Wondering what to watch? Here's BIG CINE TUNES

One of the perks of working in a record shop is fellow music nerds are always recommending great albums, books and movies that they're excited about. Or letting you know which ones were disappointing. And isn't that exactly the kind of content curation we need right now?

So here's BIG CINE TUNES, an online film festival of music movies. We'll program a different film each day that we can watch and discuss.

First up is SOUND CITY (2013), Dave Grohl's excellent documentary about the studio where classic albums like Nirvana's Nevermind and Neil Young's After The Gold Rush were recorded. The film explores the sometimes mysterious role that a recording studio can play in making some of your favourite albums.

SOUND CITY is available on Kanopy, which is free with a Toronto Public Library card, and Prime Video.

There is no set starting time for the screenings! Watch at your own leisure. And please let us know what music films - docs, biopics, starring-vehicles, etc. - YOU would recommend (or recommend avoiding). We've got a lot of time on our hands…
